One Hope Canada is thrilled to encourage new believers at camp with their Send the Love to Camp Project.

Kelly Rempel is the Director of Creative Communications with One Hope Canada. The organization is a national ministry with the head offices in Winnipeg.

"We are excited that this year we are anticipating that we will be fully open for our campers to come," says Rempel. "It's really exciting. Out of the kids that attend, about half of them come from unchurched homes."

One Hope Canada is inviting people to take part in their Send the Love to Camp project, specifically for campers making a first-time decision to follow Jesus.

"What we wanted to do is give supporters a way to interact with these kids with a very tangible thing. We came up with an idea to make postcards that supporters can colour. They've been designed by an artist in Montreal."

On the back of the postcard is where people can write an encouraging note or message.

"When these kids make the decision to follow Jesus they will receive the postcard just as a reminder that somebody out there is cheering them on as they're starting this journey."

Rempel encourages people to make this project a family affair, involving their own kids or grandkids.

"We're hoping these cards will remind kids that Jesus loves them."

One Hope Canada has 44 Bible camps and community ministries from coast to coast, with five of those Bible camps in Manitoba. These include Gimli Bible Camp, Valley View Bible Camp, Roseau River Bible Camp, Turtle Mountain Bible Camp, and Dauphin Bible Camp. In a normal year roughly 30,000 kids attend one of the camps but because of the pandemic last year, they only had about 10,000 kids attend during the summer months.

People interested in taking part in the Send the Love to Camp Project can find more details on One Hope Canada's website.
