St. John's-Ravenscourt School is hosting the 15th annual Kendra's Walk in honour of the school's alumna, Kendra McBain and her legacy.

Every year, the Winnipeg school hosts Kendra's Walk to raise funds for teens living with cancer.

In 2006, Kendra was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.

In May 2009, she organized the first annual Kendra's Walk and raised enough money to create a special place for teens living with cancer at CancerCare Manitoba.

Kendra wasn't able to see future events as she passed away in December 2009 at the age of 18, but her legacy lives on.

St. John's-Ravenscourt School has made it a tradition every year and has raised over $1,000,000 in support of teens living with cancer.

Last year, a new initiative called Kilometres for Kendra was established with the goal of having all teens in Manitoba walking for cancer awareness, on the same day.

In the same fashion, Winnipeggers are invited to gather, walk and raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The walk was originally scheduled for June 1, 2023. It has since been postponed.

Every step makes a difference, so for those of you willing, grab a pair of shoes, wear purple and join this event.
