A police pursuit ended in a collision early Thursday morning and saw a stretch of busy road shut down for the morning rush hour.

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says that they attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle they located being driven in the area of Watt and Chalmers, which turned into a short pursuit.

That pursuit ended when the stolen vehicle collided with a barricade on Higgins Avenue at MacArthur Street.

Police shutdown Higgins between Sutherland Street and Annabella Street for much of the morning while they investigated the scene.

Two adult females who were in the stolen vehicle were taken to hospital. One has since been released and is in police custoday, according to the WPS. The other remains in hospital in stable condition.
