Winnipeg firefighters were kept busy Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, battling a fire in North Point Douglas.

The fire broke out Just before midnight in a vacant industrial building on Sutherland Avenue between Maples Street North and Argyle Avenue.

The building, which was previously gutted by fire on July 4, was deemed a complete loss due to extreme fire, smoke and water damage that left it partially collapsed. Sections of the building were also demolished in that incident to help firefighters access hotspots to extinguish the blaze.

When crews arrived at the building today, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the parts of the structure. Due to the condition of the building, crews did not enter the structure and instead launched a fire attack from the exterior.

The fire was extinguished, and crews cleared the scene shortly after 4 a.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
