Several different portions of Winnipeg streets will be closed this weekend for a variety of reasons.

The City of Winnipeg is advising motorists to find alternate routes if they plan on driving downtown Saturday and Sunday.

Southbound Memorial Boulevard - from Portage Avenue to York Avenue - and westbound St. Mary Avenue - from Vaughan Street to Memorial Boulevard - will be temporarily closed this weekend.

The closures will take effect at 7 a.m. Saturday, September 28 until 7 p.m. Sunday, September 29 for road reconstruction.

"Motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations and use alternate routes," says the City of Winnipeg.

Northbound King Street will also be closed for part of Saturday and Sunday.

King Street, between Bannatyne and William Avenue, will be closed to vehicular traffic for Nuit Blanche.

The closure will take effect at 4 p.m. on Saturday until Sunday, September 29 at 2 a.m.

The City says, "Pedestrian access will be maintained, and area businesses will not be affected by the closure."
