A major, city-wide snow clearing operation is in progress after an Alberta Clipper made its way through Winnipeg Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

The brief snowstorm left behind 10-15 centimetres of heavy and wet snowfall. It was also combined with strong winds gusting to 50 km/h overnight, making for a treacherous drive both in and around the city.

The winds have since died down and crews are out clearing roads. In the city crews are clearing streets, back lanes, sidewalks, and active transportation paths based on the priority system beginning with Priority 1 (P1); regional streets or major routes and adjacent sidewalks and active transportation paths; followed by Priority 2 (P2); bus routes, collector streets and adjacent sidewalks and active transportation paths.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and to drive to the conditions.
