The City of Winnipeg is expecting major fluctuating changes in weather conditions Thursday through to Saturday.

A low-pressure system will be bringing warm air throughout southern Manitoba Thursday evening.

However, the wind will increase from 30 to 50 km/h producing wind chills lows of -35 to -40 Celcius.

Most of the province will experience warmer temperatures on Friday morning in the -7 to -10 Celcius range. Friday afternoon Environment Canada states that the weather conditions will deteriorate. Up to 10 cm of snow will cover the province throughout the night with some areas receiving higher amounts.

Saturday winds are anticipated to strengthen up to 60 km/h with low temperatures.

Travelers or those with plans to travel should be mindful of highway areas Friday and Saturday evening.

Environment Canada states that all drivers should "ensure that your vehicle contains a winter emergency kit in case poor travelling conditions cause you to be stranded for a period of time."
