You have permission to dream of summer. Camping reservations kick off next week for a few parks in Manitoba.

Manitoba campground reservations will begin staggered openings for campground reservations on Monday, March 19. Starting at 7:00 a.m., reservations for all cabins, yurts, and group use areas will begin, as well as Birds Hill Provincial Park campground.

"With the staggered opening days, we've been able to spread out the demand and make our reservation system more efficient and that's better for everything," said Sustainable Development Minister Rochelle Squires in a statement. "Manitobans love provincial parks and we're glad to accomodate their efforts to spend time in the great outdoors this summer."

The remaining campgrounds will open up in two additional phases:

  • Monday, April 2 at 7:00 a.m. for Winnipeg Beach, Betula Lake, Big Whiteshell, Brereton Lake, Caddy Lake, Falcon Beach, Falcon Lakeshore, Nutimik Lake, Opapiskaw, Otter Falsl, West Hawk Lake, and White Lake.
  • Wednesday, April 4 at 7:00 a.m. for all remaining provincial park campgrounds.

Campers can book online or by calling the park office.

With winter winding to a close, the snowmobile trails in Whiteshell were closed on Thursday as well.
