A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family of a young girl who was seriously injured in a collision on Monday in Steinbach.

At around 8:45 a.m. on September 11, Steinbach RCMP responded to the Steinbach Regional Secondary School bus loop for a collision involving a school bus and a pedestrian.

STARS air ambulance was dispatched to the scene. A 6-year-old girl was transported to the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg in critical condition.

The GoFundMe page page says the young girl underwent life-saving surgery and will have a long road to recovery ahead of her.

The family of the little girl, who also have four other school-aged children, attends Stonehouse Covenant Church in Steinbach. The church is doing everything it can to help the family during this difficult time but says many other concerned community members have asked how they can help, which is why they created this fundraiser.

They hope to raise a total of $10,000.

All funds raised will be given to the family to help offset medical costs and loss of income.

RCMP continue to investigate the crash. No charges have been laid

Hanover School Division says its crisis management team is working with the parties involved.
