RCMP are investigating following a serious collision Monday afternoon near Portage la Prairie that left one teen girl dead and injured three others.

STARS Air Ambulance and several other ambulances were on the scene of the collision which occurred around 2:30 p.m. yesterday.

The Manitoba RCMP says a vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 26, just east of Portage la Prairie, was attempting to turn and was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The southbound vehicle containing a 13-year-old and 10-year-old was being driven by a 36-year-old female, all from Winnipeg. The three were turning north onto Highway 26 when it was struck by another vehicle going westbound being driven by a 44-year-old male from Winnipeg.

The 13-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 36-year-old and 10-year-old were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injures.

The 44-year-old driver was treated at the scene.

RCMP say alcohol is not a factor and all involved were using seatbelts.

A Traffic Analyst, along with Portage la Prairie RCMP, are investigating.
