At the intersection of Highway 16 and Highway 10, RCMP is investigating a collision that happened between a police vehicle and an SUV.

According to a news release sent out this morning, on August 6 at approximately 9:15 a.m., a Neepawa RCMP officer was driving on Highway 16 on patrol in a marked police vehicle approaching Highway 10 near Minnedosa in the R.M. of Minto-Odanah, Manitoba.

The police vehicle was travelling westbound on Highway 16, approaching the intersection of Highway 10. When nearing the stop sign, an SUV struck the police vehicle.

Investigation shows that the SUV was travelling northbound on Highway 10 and took the yield east onto Highway 16. However, police believe that the driver took the turn too quickly and lost control, causing the driver to cross the divided line and crash into the police vehicle.

The driver was a 16-year-old female from Brandon, and she and the RCMP officer were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both have since been discharged from the hospital.

An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist and the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigative Team are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
