The Forks will be adding 339 residential spaces with the support of an $11.9 million tax increment financing from the Government of Manitoba.

The new space will feature park-like areas between the buildings and retail space on the ground levels. The mixed-use development will make use of part of the remaining 14 acres The Forks has left to develop.

“The new Railside development will create an even more inviting atmosphere at The Forks that will encourage visitors to explore and discover,” says Economic Development and Training Minister Ralph Eichler.

The Forks Renewal Corporation expects the new space will add to the economic growth of the Forks. They see millions of tourists a year come through their landmark and hope this first phase of the Railside development project will create an increase in people who want to "explore and discover" The Forks.

The goal of the project is to create "high quality and accessible spaces" for the public to use during their visits.

More information to come as information about the project becomes available.
