It's a cold day for the power to go out. Manitoba Hydro says they're working hard to restore power to nearly 10,000 customers who are currently without, but it may take a while.

Hydro says that a downed line is the cause of the outage.

Manitoba Hydro says that "major snow removal [is] required to reach affected line and restore power."

That means customers in the Southdale neighbourhood could be without power for as much as six hours.

Customers in other neighbourhoods will be without power for another three to four hours.

Update - 7:00 p.m.

Manitoba Hydro says that power has been restored to all customers.
