The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was kept busy Wednesday battling three residential fires.

The first fire broke out around 1:15 a.m. in a home in the 0-100 block of Miravista Drive.

When crews arrived, they saw black smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside and declared the fire under control about 15 minutes later.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported. Preliminary observations suggest the cause of the fire was accidental and related to cooking.

A few hours later, around 5:20 a.m., crews responded to a two-storey complex in the 0-100 block of Hastings Boulevard.

Firefighters were able to get it under control within a half hour. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and related to improper disposal of smoking materials.

Later in the evening, just before 10:00 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 500 block of Corydon Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw heavy smoke coming from the building.

Paramedics assessed one patient at the scene. They did not require transport. It's believed the cause of the fire was accidental and related to cooking.
