The Winnipeg Goldeyes are ready to defend last year's championship title. Here are three reasons why you should go and watch, courtesy of second baseman Casio Grider.

1. Shaw Park

"I know you have long winters and you just want to get out and get some sunshine," Grider said. "It's a great park to come to."

Located right next to The Forks and built in 1999, Shaw Park really is a gorgeous place to visit. The Red River flows just north of the park, while Waterfront Drive curves around the entire outfield with a great biking trail.

Unlike many other baseball fields, parking is plentiful around Shaw Park, but you'll probably want to walk a bit further just to enjoy the beautiful area it sits in.

2. The Goldeyes

"The group of guys," Grider said. "We're here to play baseball but we interact with the fans so much."

Playing baseball is definitely something they are good at. So good they won the American Association championship last year.

The team is also amazing with their fans. Grab a seat in the first few rows along the dugout and you can expect to have a few conversations with the pitchers who are warming up. Grider said that was his area as well, so have your baseballs ready and you might get one signed!

3. The Atmosphere

"It's family oritented," Grider said. "Just a great place to come out and just have fun."

The games are full of fun activities for fans from young to old. Goldie and Goldette, the two mascots, love hanging out and would love to take a picture with you. There are lots of different game day themes to dress up for or be a part of. We can't guarantee a win every game, but we can guarantee lots of fun.
