Three teens are facing arson charges in connection to a fire that destroyed two homes earlier this year.

On Feb. 7 at around 6:30 p.m., fire crews were called to the 500 block of Balmoral Street for the report of a serious fire.

Massive flames and large plumes of smoke were pouring out of the two homes when crews arrived.

Both properties, which were vacant at the time, were destroyed, and fire officials determined the fire was set on purpose.

The Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and later identified three suspects.

On Monday, a 13 and 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old female were arrested. They are facing several charges, including arson causing damage to property and possession of incendiary material.

All three were released on an Undertaking per the Criminal Code and turned over to adult custody.
