Two stabbings involving robberies occurred over the weekend.

The first incident took place around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

Winnipeg police responded to the St. John's area where a 35-year-old male had been pushed off the bike he was riding by a male suspect and robbed of his property.

The man was also stabbed during the incident.

The victim was able to return to his home and police were contacted. The victim was then taken to hospital in unstable condition.

The man's condition has since been upgraded to stable.

The second offence occurred around 24 hours later, on Jan. 31 at 2:18 a.m.

Winnipeg police responded to the area of Lizzie Street and Alexander Avenue. A 22-year-old man had been in the area with his girlfriend when he was approached by a male and two female. All three were unknown to the victim.

The unknown male attempted to rob the victim and the victim was stabbed.

The victim was then taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

The Winnipeg Police Service major crimes unit is investigating both incidents. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or call Crime Stoppers.

Investigators say they have not identified a link between the incidents.
