Weather is not what caused a delay for hundreds of travellers at the airport this afternoon.
An unattended bag at the Winnipeg Richardson International Airport caused a partial evacuation of the airport. A few hundred people were forced to wait outside.
"The RCMP were called into investigate," said Tyler Macafee, Director of Public Affairs with the airport. "[Their protocol] included cleaering out the area around the bag."
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., the RCMP found the bag to be non-threatening and staff were let back into the building, before passengers were finally allowed in.

Macafee says that six flights were delayed as a result as staff held the planes until passengers were able to get through. As of 3:20 p.m., the airport was once again running at regular capacity.
