Pope Francis has made a change to the Vatican's Secret Archives.

Officially, the collection of priceless archives has now been renamed the Vatican Apostolic Archives, Premier reports.

The collection documents 12 centuries of information, including letters about King Henry VIII's requests to divorce Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne Boleyn which eventually read to the split between the English Church and the Catholic Church in Rome in 1534.

Documents from the Roman Inquisition of astronomer Galileo in 1633 are also included in the archives. Galileo was charged with heresy for teaching the earth revolves around the sun.

While the name change to the collection removes potential for negative interpretation based on the word "secret" (secretum in Latin), the archives have not been sealed for some time now. Most state archives are open to researchers after a certain amount of time has passed.

The archives were originally named around 1610.
