High winds combined with icy power lines are causing dangerous conditions Thursday throughout Manitoba.

Manitoba Hydro says that high winds are causing lines weighed down by ice and snow to "gallop" and are causing power outages.

The public utility released a video Thursday morning showing lines swaying heavily in the wind.

As a result, Hydro says that it will be planning outages so that the lines can be cleared. They say they will do their best to give advanced notice to affected customers before shutting off power.

If you notice dangerous conditions with power lines you can contact Hydro at 204.480.5900 in Winnipeg or 1.888.624.9376.
