Looks like Winnipeg is going to be hit with a variety of seasons in one storm.

Rain, snow and wind are all possible tonight and tomorrow as Enivronment Canada issued a weather warning across the Red River Valley, including Winnipeg, as well as the area west of Lake Manitoba.

A strong Alberta Clipper is intensifying and bringing 10 to 20 mm of rain tonight. Cold air will come in overnight, changing the rain to snow. The Red River Valley could see 2 to 5 cm, while a snowfall warning was issued in Southeast Manitoba, where they could possibly see up to 15 cm.

There will also be a lot of wind, with gusts between 80 to 90 km/h. Along with snow, this could create reduced visibility. Environment Canada is calling this the first significant snowfall of the season.

A weather warning has been issued in the areas of:

  • Winnipeg
  • Dauphin
  • Grand Beach
  • Riding Mountain
  • Winkler
  • Portage la Prairie
  • Selkirk
  • Ste. Rose
  • Steinbach

A snowfall warning, which may include 10 to 15 cm of snow, has been issued in the areas of:

  • Sprague
  • Whiteshell

The Province of Manitoba wants to remind drivers that snow-clearing equipment will be on the highways if and when adverse weather conditions develop. Please stay well back of the equipment and do not attempt to pass a plow in operation from behind.

"The posted speed limit is intended for ideal road and weather conditions," the Province continued in a statement. "In bad weather, motorists are requested to slow down and drive according to the conditions."
