A ministry in the heart of Winnipeg is preparing to serve others a special meal this weekend.

With the hustle and bustle of Union Gospel Mission in the background, the Development Manager, Martin Chidwich, says they are preparing for Saturday's Easter dinner.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity to just welcome people and love on them in the name of Christ. It is always a privilege to share the gospel," he says.

Expecting to have four seatings, Chidwich says they will see up to 40 people at a time in each round, starting at 10:30 a.m. Knowing not everyone will wish to sit in the dining room, they are also doing take out

"We want to honour those who come through our doors and give them the very best we can."

The hands and feet of this day are the volunteers peeling potatoes and serving guests.

"It takes the generosity of people who have blessed us with generous hands. It really takes the vision of an army of cooks and chefs."

Chidwick notes there will be people in the dining room spending time with the guests as they share stories and pray with them, saying "we are here to serve."
