No one was injured after a fire tore through a West End apartment complex Tuesday evening. 

The fire broke out just before 5:30 p.m. in a seven-storey apartment building under construction in the 300 block of Young Street, near Portage Avenue. 

Heavy smoke and flames were pouring out of the building when crews arrived. Firefighters attacked the fire from the exterior, and when conditions improved, they entered the building to put out any hotspots. The fire was declared under control at 6:18 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the building, and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The structure suffered significant fire and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
