An investigation is underway following a fire Thursday morning in a West End apartment complex.

At 11:20 a.m. yesterday, fire crews were headed to another call when they noticed smoke and flames coming from an apartment complex at the corner of Sargent Avenue and Beverley Street.

Additional crews were called in, and they were able to fight the fire from inside, declaring it under control a short time later.

Most residents stayed in their suites. A Winnipeg Transit bus was deployed to the scene to provide shelter for those who self-evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The City’s Emergency Social Services team assisted one displaced resident in finding temporary accommodations.

This is the second time a fire has broken out at the West End apartment complex in the past two months.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
