Three fires early Sunday made for a busy morning for Winnipeg firefighters.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to the first blaze just before 12:30 a.m. in a vacant one-storey house on Union Avenue West.

Heavy flames and smoke were coming from the house when crews arrived. A defensive attack was launched, using an aerial ladder.

The fire was declared under control at 1:08 a.m. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Crews received the call for the second fire at 1:26 a.m. in a single-storey home in the 500 block of Dufferin Avenue.

Neighbouring buildings were protected by crews from the heat and flames emitting from the blaze.

Four hours later, the fire was declared under control at 5:19 a.m. There were no injuries reported.

The third fire of the morning was reported at 3:24 a.m.

Crews responded to the 300 block of Dowling Avenue East where smoke was coming from a one-storey house.
