Looking to do something with the kids this Christmas break, but there just isn't enough light in the day? Why not check out the lights at night instead.

A number of locations in Winnipeg have set up Christmas lights for the holiday season, but some stand out just a little more than others. Here are some places to take your kids on the holiday break.

275 Aldgate Road

Located the southern part of St. Vital, this house is covered with more than 50,000 lights which are synchronized to Christmas music from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. You can make a donation to the Children's Wish Foundation to support the owners work.

18 Mildred Street

On the north side of the city, Michael Geiger-Wolf has set up 250,000 lights that are timed to 30 different Christmas songs and carols. If you are driving past, tune your radio to 93.9fm to hear the music and stay warm inside your car. Geiger-Wolf is raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society after having survived cancer twice already.

503 Kildare Avenue West

Transcona is home to an incredible display of 30,000 lights, perfect for checking out with the family. Peter Kwaitek and his wife Pam set up the holiday display for years until Pam lost her battle with cancer in 2014. Peter continues to set up the lights every single year and collects donations for Winnipeg Harvest.

Candy Cane Lane and Polar Bear Lane

Lindenwood has a lot of lights, but two streets stand out above the rest. Candy Cane Lane and Polar Bear Lane have been covered in Christmas lights for years. Part of your Christmas light tour needs to include Foxmeadow Drive and Hennessey Drive. More Lindenwood neighbourhoods are joining in as well. Check out Linden Shore Drive for a more penguin-themed Christmas display.

Tuxedo

Drive down Grant between Kenaston Boulevard and Canadian Mennonite University and you will notice a high number of trees covered in Christmas lights. Over the past few years, more and more houses have been lighting up their trees, so much so that you can drive down almost any street in the south Tuxedo area and find multiple trees covered in lights. In particular, check out Park Boulevard West and East for the best displays.

The Forks

A great gathering spot all year long and full of Christmas lights. Not only can you enjoy the lights with the family, but you can spend the evening skating on the trails scattered throughout the park.

Canad Inns Winter Wonderland

Every year, Canad Inns Winter Wonderland brings over 1,000,000 lights to the Red River Exhibition Park, creating an incredible 2.5 km drive-thru light show. There is also an outdoor skating rink and a free horse-drawn sleigh ride every weekend. The display remains open until January 6, 2018, and cost just $15 for a vehicle with up to 7 passengers.
