A local organization is thankful for the support they have received after the building they use to host their programs, flooded.

1JustCity received a phone call early Monday morning that pipes had burst in Augustine United Church, forcing them to search for a new location.

Tessa Blakie Whitecloud says, that evening they were supposed to kick off night one of their "Just a Warm Sleep" program.

"Just a Warm Sleep is just that, a warm place to sleep for people that are in need. People come in at 10pm and they get to stay until 7am," said Blakie Whitecloud.

Within an hour from the original call, Crescent Fort Rouge United Church and Young United Church in Crossways Common, offered to temporarily host the event for the homeless.

"We worked in partnership with Salvation Army, they had a van that was hanging out and doing loops. We had a volunteer on site at the usual intake time at Augustine United Church, so that we could direct and transport people over to Crossways in Common," said Blakie Whitecloud.

A majority of the damage sustained at the church was in the basement. Blakie Whitecloud says, they expect to be back in their space by Monday night.

The "Just a Warm Sleep" program runs every night until March 31.
