Zane Kirk, one of the master stylist and event coordinator for urban crush salon in Winnipeg said the salon raised $10,052 for the Aulneau Renewal Centre in Winnipeg this weekend.

The Cut-A-Thon started on Saturday at 10 am and went on until 6 pm as "well over 100 people" came through the salon says the press release.

The event featured prizes valued at over $5000 and the proceeds for the events different activities including a BBQ, bake sale, face painting, terrarium building, and henna tattoos contributed to the funds raised.

"It was cool it was all about community and the community really came out this year and really helped us get those numbers up," said Kirk.

The organization the salon was raising money for, Aulneau Renewal Centre provides "subsidized counseling for low-income kids."

Kirk explained the organization as a counseling service that would usually charge $150 but chooses to come into low-income home's, asses the situation then offer that same counseling for as low as $15.

Kirk explained that "This $10,000 is going to help maintain the program so they can keep subsidizing as many kids as possible.

"I just want to thank the local community for coming out and supporting us yet again, and hopefully we can do this all again next year!"
