Winnipeg's Technical Vocational High School is now home to a state-of-the-art aerospace shop.

The new 5,800 sq. foot space features a new welding shop, composites classroom and lab. The previous welding and machine shop, along with three classrooms, also underwent renovations, with the old welding shop being converted into an Aerospace Manufacturing Centre.

“The students who are studying aviation and aerospace technologies in this newly expanded building are learners engaged in deep and sophisticated thinking that integrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics to serve them in their future careers," said Tamara Kuly, chair of the Winnipeg School Division board of trustees in a release. “Winnipeg School Division is proud of our partnerships within the community and the role we play in helping students achieve their full potential."

Students who complete the Aviation and Aerospace Technology program will be qualified to work for top-notch aerospace companies in Manitoba and across Canada.

Tec Voc has been a leader in Aerospace programming since it began offering it to students in 1996.
