The Major Crimes Unit has charged a male and a female for three serious incidents involving robberies and kidnapping after they were found in Saskatchewan.

On September 14, 2022, at 9:30 p.m., East District General Patrol units, with the assistance of AIR1, responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment building in the 200 block of Edison Avenue.

When the officers got there they located an injured male in his 50s. He was transported to a hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

It is believed the victim had gone to the building thinking he was attending a party with a previously known female. However, upon entering the suite, he was struck with a blunt object by an unknown male and robbed of his belongings before he was stabbed. The two (the known female & unknown male) then took his SUV and fled the area.

On September 15, 2022, at approximately 1:50 a.m., the suspects ran out of gas while driving the stolen vehicle on the Perimeter Highway near McPhillips Street. A man in his 30s, who wasn’t aware the SUV had been stolen, picked up the pair and drove them to a nearby gas station to get fuel.

After bringing them back to the vehicle, the two tried and failed to get the stolen SUV running. The pair turned their attention to the Good Samaritan and attempted to rob him at knifepoint. The victim was stabbed during the confrontation but managed to flee in his vehicle and sought treatment at a hospital.

On September 21, 2022, a third male victim (in his 30s) met up with the female (previously known to him) and the male (unknown to him). They ended up together in a hotel suite in the 200 block of Main Street. When the victim went to bed, he was threatened with a knife and forced outside to his car. Against his will, the victim was driven to Brandon, Manitoba. He escaped when they stopped at a gas station, and police were contacted.

RCMP members later located the two suspects in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, and took them into custody. They were turned over to the Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit, who continued the investigation.
