Jackson Charron-Okerlund is drawing inspiration from the national hero Terry Fox and is going Coast to Coast for a Cure to raise funds for Cancer Research.

Jackson Charron-Okerlund began his Coast to Coast for a Cure marathon on March 6 after flying from Winnipeg to St. John's, Newfoundland.

He's currently on day 106 of his trek and is on his way to Winnipeg. The goal is to travel approximately 50 km a day for roughly 120 days with no one following him in a vehicle.

"Terry Fox has touched the hearts of many Canadians and individuals across the world," says Okerlund's GoFundMe description. " I've always been in awe of Terry Fox. Terry ran halfway across Canada with one leg and a dream. It doesn't help he had cancer coursing through his body. If it wasn't for the Cancer I believe he would have finished his marathon. Since he was unable to finish he has inspired others with his story."

The reason behind this marathon is to raise funds and bring awareness for Cancer Research and it also serves as a tribute to Terry Fox and he has already raised more than $50,000.

Okerlund will also be bringing Terry Fox's Adidas shoes along with him as a source to draw inspiration.

Along his journey, the Winnipeg man has met with many people wanting to take pictures with him and even met another cross-country traveller named Matthieu

Matthieu is cycling across Canada from Vancouver to St. John's.

Many people have taken to social media to post their photos of Okerlund, sharing their stories.

Iartisaninc on Instagram says, "Olivia and I both lost our mom July 4, 2016. My husband and I adopted Olivia and she mad our family complete. Thanks @crosscanadajax for inspiring Canadians."

For anyone wishing to meet the Winnipegger, he is travelling across the country along the Trans Canada Highway and is more than willing to stop for pictures.

Okerlund says there's potential he might be throwing a pitch for the Winnipeg Goldeyes game tomorrow against the Lincoln Saltdogs to bring awareness.
