The Winnipeg Police Service is investigating after two protesters were attacked with hockey sticks. Video of the incident quickly went viral.

A video posted to Twitter by the user @CookeyyGam shows protesters walking down Broadway Street when a woman appears from the backseat of a car and swings a hockey stick at two protesters.

The protest was part of a Black Lives Matter/Indigenous Lives Matter rally at the Legislative Building Saturday evening.

The WPS says they were called to the area around 8:12 p.m. on Saturday. Police say that one of the two victims was suffering an injury after being struck by the stick.

A second video posted to Twitter by the same user shows a woman bleeding from her head as a result of being struck. The WPS says an ambulance was called, but the victim declined treatment from paramedics.

The WPS says that the investigation is being carried out by the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police.
