Calgary police found over 90 kg of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine inside of a pickup truck thanks to the help of the Winnipeg Police Service.

Authorities found 46.9 kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of $4.69 million and 47.5 kg of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of approximately $4.75 million inside a 33-year-old man's truck near Dorthy, Alberta.

This was part of a much larger project started by the WPS in the fall called "Project Sasquatch." The project was established to "prevent the flow of illicit drugs from entering" our communities and allowed authorities to easily share information.

WPS noticed the trafficking of drugs between Ontario and Alberta, but were unable to act on it due to the "scope of the investigation and inter-jurisdictional challenges." WPS then handed the investigation over to Calgary, who successfully undertook the bust on Thursday.

"The Winnipeg Police Service congratulates the Calgary Police Service Gang Enforcement Team on achieving such an exceptional result that will no doubt have a significant impact on disrupting the flow of Illicit Drugs into our local community and those across western Canada," the WPS says in a statement.

The 33-year-old is charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
