Winnipeg doesn't need a whiteout party to get people outside. All it needs is a day that won't end with a real one.

Winnipegger's flooded the streets on Wednesday, celebrating the first 20°C+ day in 2018 after going more than six months between temperatures of more than 10°C.

"It's been a long spring," said cyclist Bill Algeo. He spent his lunch hour going for a bike ride, not even letting the 60km/hr wind bother him.

People were enjoying the outdoors over their lunch break, either sitting on the patio or taking some time to relax in the park. Joyce had her lunch out, refusing to let the wind stop her.

"Two cans of hairspray, we're good to go," Joyce laughed.

She says the sun is shining and the snow is gone, so it must be a wonderful day.

James Jellicoe was in shorts and a t-shirt, eating at a nearby food truck. He said he hasn't worn that combination yet, but today he felt like he didn't have a choice.

"You can see in the downtown everyone is outside having a great time," "It's a beautiful time out here."
