Winnipeggers can take advantage of a fun-filled summer as the City of Winnipeg unveils the season's programming, including swimming lessons.

On Friday, the City of Winnipeg announced registration for condensed Summer Leisure Guide programming is opening on Monday morning. Summer day camps are among the many activities people can get up to as the province loosens restrictions.

"The City will continue to work towards the gradual resumption of additional recreation services, in due course, in response to the Province’s 4-3-2-One Great Summer Path," the city says in a statement.

The summer will be going swimmingly as outdoor swimming lessons will be announced on Wednesday, with registration opening on Tuesday, July 6 at 8 a.m.

Outdoor water recreation will open if not already, including pools. Kildonan Park, St. Vital, Transcona Aquatic Park and Westdale's heated outdoor pools opened on Friday. All other outdoor pools are opening on Monday and wading pools on Canada Day. Registration is needed to swim.

Libraries remain closed for pick-up only.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Monday for all Lesuire Guide activities, excluding swimming lessons which open on Wednesday. Registration can also be done in person following the health orders at 395 Main Street, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Calls can be made to 311.
