A friendly competition between two BBQ places will be ending in a donation to a local mission organization.

Willy Dogs and St. James Burger and Chip Co. are combining forces to support one cause. The two are at 1866 Ness Avenue, grilling to gain donations during a cook-off for Siloam Mission.

The two businesses are donating one dollar from every burger, hotdog, or smokie sold today until 7 p.m. They are both also collecting additional monetary donations for Siloam Mission throughout the day.

Kevin adds that he and his brother Ravi enjoy doing outreach work in Winnipeg and is glad they could partner with another business for the event today.

Frannie, one of the shop's managers, says that reaching out to Willy Dogs for the event made sense.

"I have a lot of people who come in all the time, but we don't have smokies," Frannie says. Frannie adds that they do not mind losing business to Willy Dogs today during today's event.

Will, from Willy Dogs, has had today's long day of grilling on his mind all weekend and is excited to see people come out to support a cause that is important to them.

"Having this event is really important to me," Will says. "In 2011 Siloam was home to me and it helped me kind of start my journey and knowing there was a safe place for me to go, even when I did experience relapses and homelessness. It was a key turning point for the years to come and they have always been really close to my heart."
