It's been an oddly dry winter, so March is making up for it with a healthy dumping of snow this weekend.

Update 5:10 p.m.: A special weather statement has been issued by Environment Canada for the second system, which will arrive on Sunday.

15 to 30 centimetres across southern Manitoba are estimated. The special weather statement affects communities from the top of the lakes down to the American border.

Two different systems are coming through Manitoba and could bring up to 25 centimetres of snow combined, or a significant amount of rain.

"There is some disagreement in the models as to whether we will get rain or drizzle instead of snow," said Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Natalie Hasell.

An Alberta Low will enter Manitoba Friday late afternoon, while a Colorado Low will push it out on Sunday, continuing snowfall until Tuesday.

Highs are hovering around 0°C for the weekend before dropping off on Monday and Tuesday.
