A woman was attacked in the Riverview area after being approached by a man she did not know Saturday evening.

The woman was in the 200 block of Churchill Drive along the river walk, across the Red River from Juneberry on St. Mary's Road. The man approached her and tried to pull her to the ground. She was able to resist and the man fled the area on foot.

Police responded to the attack around 6 p.m. Saturday.

The suspect is described as male, between 35 and 40 years old, and 5'11" tall with an average build. he has black hair worn in a buzz cut style and was wearing a grey t-shirt, black cargo pants, a black mask, and black sunglasses.

Winnipeg police advise the public to visit their website for personal safety tips to protect against similar attacks.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call 911. The investigation is continuing.
