After searching a suspect's car and a home, police are charging an Albertan man with four related charges.
While conducting a Controlled Drugs & Substances Act search warrant inside a vehicle and residence, the Guns & Gangs Unit with the Winnipeg Police Service found:
- Approximately 6.4 kilograms of methamphetamine (estimated value of $103,400, but it should be noted that this amount of methamphetamine is 64,000 hits at $10 each)
- Approximately 452 grams of fentanyl (estimated value of $118,000, but it should be noted this amount of fentanyl is 4,520 doses valued at $50 each)
- Approximately 122 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $7,500)
- Approximately 74 grams of crack cocaine (estimated street value of $4,550)
- Approximately $13,420 in Canadian currency
- Drug packaging materials
- Score sheets
- Two mobile phones
The drugs amount to an approximate street value of $233,450.
Police say they first pulled the suspect over on Sunday night in the area of Kenaston Boulevard and North Town Road as part of an investigation. Officers then searched a residence in the first 100 block of Hill Grove Point.
Police say at the time they were conducting a fentanyl trafficking investigation.
A 22-year-old male of Edmonton is being charged with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
The man was detained in custody.
