The mayor of the City of Kenora says that Manitobans are welcome so long as they follow social-distancing guidelines, but there has been some confusion around what the Government of Manitoba requires for people that travel to the area.

Manitobans that travel out of province are required to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

That's left many people asking, "Do I have to self-isolate or quarantine when I return home from my Ontario cottage?"

In April, a 50-kilometre "buffer zone" was set up for travel from the Manitoba border into Ontario or Saskatchewan. Travel within that zone exempted people from having to self-isolate.

to limit their use of local services to the minimum required and restrict their travel for the purpose of their visit. Additionally, people traveling outside of Manitoba should review travel orders in the jurisdiction they are visiting.

Kenora's mayor, Dan Reynard says while Manitobans are welcome they are asked to follow health guidelines.

“We would really encourage people to follow the proper protocol. Social distancing, hand washing, if you’re feeling ill, don’t go out into the public,” Reynard says.
