Troy Lydiate spends much of his time investing in the lives of young people in Winnipeg, and across the country.

The Providence University College graduate works for Macdonald Youth Services as a support worker, and along with his wife, Jasmine, is currently the staff director at Stratford Bible Camp in Saskatchewan. He's also the worship director at New Beginnings Church.

But his ministry is bigger than his direct work with youth and in the church. He also goes by another name at times.

Lydiate is also a hip hop artist known as Scribe, and his new album, Keys to the City, is out today.

"It's bittersweet for sure," Scribe says about finishing the three-year project. "I'm happy to be done it, but the process has been amazing. I've grown a lot as an artist and a person throughout its conception that now it's hard to come to terms that this project is complete, as far as the album goes anyway."

For Scribe it's about much more than simply creating the music he enjoys and the entertains people.

"I hope this album creates a scenario in which people can get a better snapshot of what their lives really could look like, and inspire them to think critically about the one they live now.

"Everyone is looking for the 'meaning of life' in one-way shape or form and my hope is that this album can help be the start of a much greater conversation."
