19-year-old arrested after pointing handgun at woman and children, group of youth
A 19-year-old male has been arrested after pulling a handgun on several people on Wednesday afternoon. Shortly before 4:30 p.m., East District General Patrol officers arrested a man, and recovered two air pistols after he drew a gun on a woman and her children. The woman was picking her children up from school around 3:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Brazier Street. The suspect approached the victims vehicle in a threatening manner. He drew a black handgun from his waistband as she drove away. Shortly after, the suspect approached a group of youth near Brazier Street and Maxwell Place. He pulled the handgun and pointed it at the group and they fled. Both incidents are believed to be random and unprovoked as the suspect and the victims were previously unknown to each other. There has been no reported injuries from either incident. The suspect was arrested in the rear of an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Brazier Street. He faces multiple weapon-related charges. He was released on an Undertaking.
