A pastor who has been preaching at a Texas church for more than 20 years has resigned "in the interest of Christ."

Todd Wagner, senior pastor and co-founder of Watermark Community Church (WCC) in Dallas officially resigned from his position on Apr. 17 and shared the news in a video posted to the church's website last month, according to the Christian Post.

"As you might remember, last year I requested prayer for a vocal cord issue. After going on voice rest and a good bit of therapy, most of the issues seemed to clear up. But sadly just a few weeks ago, while working on new music, the concerns and issues all came back," says Luke Smallbone on the band's Facebook page.

One of Canadian Christian music's favourite artists is being honoured by his home province with its highest honour.
