2022 in Review: May

Stories old and new gained traction in May, from welcoming new daughters into the family to celebrities being truthful about their beliefs.

CHANDLER MOORE AND HIS WIFE WELCOME BABY GIRL

Maverick City Music singer, Chandler Moore and his wife Hannah welcomed a baby girl into the world back in April. The couple decided to name her Krue Grace Moore.

Overwhelmed with the emotions of holding the new title of "father," Moore posted on Facebook. "I'm obsessed. I'll try words later."

JEWISH MOTHER REUNITED WITH BABY GIVEN UP DURING WWII

Gerda Cole had given up her daughter, named Sonya, because she could not afford to keep her baby and gave her up for adoption, with the decision she could no longer have contact with her child.

It was not until 80 years later and after extensive searching by Sonya to find her mother that the two were reunited on Cole's birthday, May 7, at a nursing home in Toronto.

PARTS OF MANITOBA WARNED OF POSSIBLE EVACUATION DUE TO FLOODING

Manitoba Transportation and infrastructure urged places in southern and central Manitoba to take precautions as flooding conditions were expected to worsen as up to 80 mm of precipitation was expected in the coming days in some areas.

At the time, 39 states of local emergencies were declared, and the government was working with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) to make sure that First Nation communities also received the support needed for the flooding.

The Manitoba Government also reminded households to have a 72-hour emergency kit in case emergencies are declared.

Even a year and a half after its initial publication, somehow McConaughey demanded viewers' attention as he shared his religious views on a podcast called The Joe Rogan Experience, hosted by ex-Fear Factor host Joe Rogan.

When asked if he was religious, the actor responded "yes" without hesitation and even answered the question of whether the Bible is true or more like a guidebook.

"I don't know what to do in my daily life with the burning bush," he says, referring to a story of Moses in the Old Testament. "I do know what to do with 'love your neighbour like yourself,' and I do know what to do with some Proverbs that I can take into daily practice."
