The back-in, angled parking test has been a success and could become permanent shortly.

In July 2017, Bannatyne Avenue had back-in, angled parking installed between Waterfront Drive and Rorie Street. It was designed to increase the number of parking spots available.

"With the ever-increasing popularity of the Exchange District . . . making the most of parking in the area is crucial to its continued success," said Point Douglas Ward Councillor Mike Pagtakhan in a statement. "The new back-in, angled parking on Bannatyne is a better fit for residents, businesses, and visitors alike."

Public service is now recommending that the parking change and one-way designation become permanent fixtures of Bannatyne. Feedback has been positive and the city is now looking at McDermot Avenue as another possible candidate for back-in, angled parking. Protected bike lanes along both McDermot and Bannatyne are being planned for this summer as well.
