High winds and snowfall remains in much of southern Manitoba as a strong Arctic cold front pushes through the province.

Many highways were closed in Westman on Tuesday evening. Most have since reopened, however, as of 5 a.m. the Yellowhead Highway remains closed from Minnedosa to Portage la Prairie. Highway 5 is also closed from the Trans-Canada Highway to Highway 68.

Winkler, Altona, Steinbach and other areas remain under a blizzard warning as winds of 80 km/h push the fresh snow causing poor visibility.

The City of Winnipeg and areas north are currently under a blowing snow advisory.

Environment Canada says conditions should gradually improve Wednesday morning, but in the meantime travel throughout the Red River Valley will be impacted by poor visibility.
