A fishing lodge situated on an island in Northern Manitoba is a total loss after being completely engulfed by flames.

On Sunday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m., an RCMP detachment was called about a fire happening north of them on an island on the Bloodvein River that is only accessible by snowmobile.

An RCMP officer from the Bloodvein First Nation detachment immediately arrived to see the orange flames illuminating the white snowy surroundings. It is a total loss.

Authorities say the lodge was vacant and closed for the season. There were no injuries.

The fire is being deemed as suspicious. Authorities are asking the public for their assistance, saying they can call Bloodvein RCMP at 204-395-2311, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
