The Winnipeg Police Service allege that a woman was driving a stolen car when it crashed into a home on Talbot Ave. Friday evening. 

The crash occurred in the 600 block of Talbot, between Gateway and Grey, around 9 p.m.

The WPS says that a police officer was in the area when they heard a series of loud noises. The officer found a severely damaged vehicle that struck two houses.

One of the homes was unoccupied at the time. There were residents in the second home, but there were no injuries suffered by the occupants.

Witnesses told the officer that the woman driving and the lone occupant of the vehicle fled the scene.

Police quickly determined that the vehicle had been stolen from the Fort Frances, ON area on or about April 30, 2019.

Police used a K9 Unit to trach the woman to the 500 block of Herbert Ave. where she was taken into custody.

The female was treated by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and was later transported to hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the collision.

A 26-year-old female from Winnipeg has been arrested for, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited, and Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance.

She was released on a Promise to Appear and remains hospitalized at this time.
