The ice is back at an outdoor community rink in Winnipeg that had been acting as an impromptu parking lot due to a dispute over insurance and liability.

With the city's cooperation, the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre was able to secure insurance for $2500 to cover the rink's use until March.

Volunteers worked fervently to get ice ready in time for yesterday's West Broadway Snoball carnival, asking for volunteers online to help flood the rink after confirming it could be put back into operation.

The neighbourhood centre's executive director says he's hoping a new lease agreement with the city will include an amendment to the centre's operating grant to cover the outdoor amenities.
