On June 6, Winnipeg welcomes back Bike Week by inviting the community to the various events happening until Friday.

Since the first Bike Week was held in 2007, it has turned into a well-known and well-attended event that locals look forward to every year.

HSC plans to help kick start the eventful week by inviting the community to join them at their pit stop at 720 McDermont Ave, from 6:30 am to 9 am.

"From 6:30 to 9:30 am, we'll have coffee, tea, muffins and fruit for those who stop by to enjoy. There will also be a DJ to pump everyone up on Monday morning since it is bright and early. We will also have a bike mechanic there to assist with repairing and maintaining the bikes of those who have their bikes there," says Leigh-Ann Patrick, the staff wellness coordinator of Shared Health. "We have also collaborated with the U of M to make the event happen, so the U of M will also probably have a few different types of activities as well."

In previous years, there have been approximately 120 pit stops on Bike to Work day.

"A lot of our bikers will actually plan their route when they come to HSC and stop at numerous pit stops on the way. We do encourage others to also participate because whether it's their first or thousandth time biking or biking to work, we want everyone to just get out there and ride and just have a great day and enjoy that commute either on Monday or throughout the whole week."

Patrick hopes that Shared Health's pit stop will encourage their staff members to participate in increasing their well-being, energy and morale.

This year's Bike Week will have activities ranging from pit stops, group rides, workshops, and leisure and cultural events all to encourage Winnipeg to bring out their bikes and get moving.
